Summary:
Under the supervision, direction and guidance of the LSI Aviation Logistics Support Manager, and leadership of the Aviation Logistician Lead, the Aviation Logistician will provide aviation logistics support to the activities of the CAL FIRE Aviation Management Unit (AMU). In coordination with other LSI functional area specialists, Federal or State agencies, and various commercial entities, the LSI Logistician will ensure that adequate levels of aviation parts and equipment are available to support the CAL FIRE AMU mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitor, follow up, and report on status of all open purchase orders to include: STD 65, Contractor purchases; repairs and services.
• Obtaining and entering estimated cost of overhauls in CAL FIRE logistical database.
• Evaluating parts usage based on historical data and repair cycles to forecast long-term manufacturing or obsolescence.
• Ensure AOG, work stoppages and core returns are processed within AMU timeframes and procedures.
• Follow parts management procedures as outlined in the CAL FIRE Repair Station/Quality Control Manual No. CFOR047Z.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Analyze and determine aircraft parts requirements (to include rotable and consumable items) to help establish minimum stock levels.
• Coordinate and document the shipment and receipt of rotable aircraft parts and equipment sent to vendor facilities for repair / overhaul / manufacture.
• Track and document the status of rotable parts and equipment at vendor facilities for repair / overhaul / manufacture.
• Facilitate and expedite repair / overhaul / manufacture activities as required.
• Verify and document the return of repaired part / equipment from vendor facilities to CAL FIRE AMU inventory.
• Conduct, or assist with, parts and equipment inventories as required.
• Evaluate, maintain and improve efficiency of logistics support activities.
• Recommend, develop, and facilitate the implementation of new policies and procedures to simplify and improve logistics operations.
• Provide excellent customer service and support.

Education and/or Experience:
A four year College degree or equivalent work experience, with three to five years of experience supporting logistics activities, with progressive degrees of responsibility. Support of aviation logistics activities or aviation operations is highly desirable.

Computer Skills:
Intermediate skill level in the use of Microsoft (MS) Office, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general logistics support policies and procedures. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, compile data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
