Job Description:

Logistic Specialties, Inc. (LSI), an industry-leading firm providing business development, economic development, and sustainment services, is hiring a full-time System Security Engineer. The qualified candidate will provide subject matter expertise support to the government customer to facilitate the integration of system security engineering disciplines such as anti-tamper, cybersecurity, hardware assurance, software assurance, and supply chain risk management; and security specialties such as personnel security, industrial security, physical security, information security, and operations security. The System Security Engineer is accountable to the System Security Team Lead for tasks and shall help them ensure comprehensive system protection within the constraints of cost, schedule, and performance while maintaining an acceptable level of risk. He or she will be part of an integrated product team supporting the sustainment of ICBM-unique hardware and software for the MM III system, providing support in the form of data delivered for the MM III sustainment or acquisition activities.

 

This position will be located at Hill Air Force Base, Ogden UT.

 

Job Summary:

  • Conducting or reviewing program protection analyses for critical program information (CPI), critical components (CC), trusted systems and networks (TSN), and program information
  • Collaborating with security specialists, program managers, and program engineers to assess and identify vulnerabilities to CPI and updating the MMIII Program Protection Plan to ensure CPI and mission-critical functions and components are protected to keep technological advantages in and malicious content out
  • Conducting or reviewing trade-off analyses to integrate protection measures from across security engineering specialties and security specialties with a goal of achieving a comprehensive system security approach, which reduces security risks to acceptable levels
  • Collaborating with a program team to develop a Program Protection Plan (PPP) for their program, instructing those teams in the philosophy, techniques, and maintenance of the PPP, and providing a basis for balancing security countermeasures, security costs, and security risks to the system being procured or updated.
  • Translating protection measures into system security requirements, and adjusting them based upon constraints and decisions relayed from the systems engineer
  • Integrate System Security Engineering activities into the overall Systems Engineering and design efforts
  • Conducting security risk management activities, producing related security risk management information, and advising the engineering team and key stakeholders on the security relevant impact of threats and vulnerabilities to the mission supported by the system
  • Assuring OPSEC requirements are in place in an effort to reduce program vulnerability from successful adversary collection and exploitation of critical information.

 

  • Designing in resilience and agility to maintain mission assurance if a MMIII system or sub-system is compromised
  • Providing design analyses for all resident CPI and provide input to the Anti-Tamper Plan IAW DoD 5200.47E
  • Assisting with minimizing and managing the risk that counterfeit or maliciously altered parts may enter and degrade the MMIII system or introduce unknown content
  • Participating in the Government-led IPTs and Working Groups, including developing meeting agendas, preparing and consolidating briefing materials, providing meeting minutes to participants, and drafting answers to action items assigned by other agencies or organizations.

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software, Mathematics, or Physics

 

Required Skills:

  • 3 or more years (2 or more years with a Master's Degree) of directly related experience with the DoD Acquisition Process, systems integration, and analysis of military hardware and software systems/processes, including identifying security vulnerabilities and minimizing or containing risks associated with these vulnerabilities
  • Able to obtain at least a SECRET U.S. Government security clearance
  • Able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and organize daily tasks with minimal or no supervision
  • Possess strong communication skills (oral and written) commensurate with expected mid- to senior-level civilian and military participants from various US Government agencies
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Current U.S. Government security clearance is highly desired (but not required)
  • Familiarity with protecting U.S. military technology and technical data, especially the ICBM weapon system, is highly desired
