Steven is the founder of SM&A, which became the largest and most successful proposal management and program support firm in the industry during the 1990s and 2000s. He served as SM&A’s President and CEO for 16 years before taking the company public in 1998 with a very successful IPO. Steve went on to serve as Chairman and CEO for another decade. When sold to private equity investors in 2008, the company was generating more than $100 million in annual revenue and employed over 800 people. He is also the Chairman and CEO of Dolphin Capital Holdings, Inc., which he founded in 2007 as his private equity investment vehicle.
Steve has served on the boards of 10 public and private companies in a broad array of industries. He is a prior Chairman and a current Director of Caladrius Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLBS). Steve graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor of science in mathematics and is an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner. He is a frequent lecturer on entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. Steve is also an Air Force veteran and a highly accomplished aviator with 6,000 hours of flights time and 11 jet type ratings.
