LSI Business Development Inc. Awarded Grant to Assist Small Businesses in Oklahoma and Surrounding States
Oklahoma City, OK – LSI Business Development Inc. (LSI) was recently awarded a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for a pilot program to help small businesses compete for large government contracts. LSI was one of eleven grantees selected from more than 300 hundred application submitted.
LSI’s Government Procurement Economic Development (GPED) program provides contract consultation to small businesses through innovative partnerships with state and regional agencies. The SBA grant allows LSI to add teaming services to its Oklahoma-based GPED program.
“This grant means LSI can help teams of small businesses bring more contracts and jobs creation to communities throughout the South Central and Western United States,” said Allen Shipes, Director of LSI’s Oklahoma City office. LSI has over 40 years of government consulting experience and a nationwide network of procurement specialists prepared to assist small businesses.
SBA’s Small Business Teaming Pilot Program was made possible by the Small Business Jobs Act. The grants have been awarded to organizations that provide training, counseling, and mentoring to help small businesses enter into teaming relationships and compete for larger federal contracts. Grantees will leverage their existing resources and collaborate with SBA District Offices, resource partners, and other federal, state, local and tribal government small business development programs.
“Government contracts are a crucial source of revenue for small businesses,” said SBA Administrator Karen Mills upon announcing the grant awardees on September 23rd. “The teaming pilot program will help small businesses grow and create jobs by giving them the tools they need to work together on larger contracts.”
In addition to the Oklahoma program, LSI will serve as a consulting sub-contractor for a Teaming Pilot grant winner based in northern Idaho. Oklahoma small businesses interested in becoming part of a small business team should contact the LSI Oklahoma City Office at 405.741.0700.
