Job Creation
LSI takes pride in creating demand for high-wage jobs through new business capture and design our workforce development to target under- and unemployed communities.
LSI works with public and private institutions (including higher education) to provide a trained workforce based on market demand. We create new jobs by assisting these institutions by capturing new workload in regional locations. LSI places individuals into the right position by creating demand for new jobs, working with institutions to prepare the individuals for the job requirements, and placing these individuals into jobs created by LSI’s business development team. LSI works with regions to develop successful markets (clusters) aligned with the area’s growth objectives and labor supply.
It is important to align the efforts and resources of businesses, labor, state government, educational institutions and others to:
- Determine labor and skill requirements by industry sector and occupational groups
- Identify the labor force and skill requirements for emerging and strategic industries
- Analyze the enrollments and output of students from states and training institutions to ensure the preparation of adequate labor supply
- Prepare and upgrade the skills of young people, current workers, transitional, and at-risk individuals for employment and further education
- Focus public resources and investments to increase labor supply in areas with identified labor and skills shortages
Remediate skills gaps for industries where applicants are unable to meet entry level skills standards and performance expectations by entering into partnerships and consortia arrangements with business and education and training providers.
Over the past two decades, Sean Slatter and the LSI team have been key United Way partners – focused on the work of transforming our community and providing opportunities for every child to achieve their potential. LSI’s generosity of both time and resources have enabled United Way of Davis County, and United Way of Salt Lake, to impact thousands of lives – improving health, education and financial stability of kids and families across our region. Equally important has been Sean Slatter’s leadership on the United Way Board of Directors. Sean has been a champion and catalyst for United Way’s evolution to a national model of cradle-to-career innovation and impact, and his leadership has been especially key in terms of public policy and operational efficiency.
